Buying Sightron

Hey all,

I'm not having much luck finding a distributor for Sightron in Australia.

Does anyone know of any? Or failing that, has anyone got advice for buying from another country, maybe direct from Japan or USA?

Price is heaps cheaper too even with conversion rate on currency. Just worried about shipping damage/loss...

Cheers

Hi Andrew, I got mine from Queensland Gun Exchange at a very reasonable price - before the exchange rate price change could take effect. I did have to wait a couple of months though as they go out faster than coming in... which begs the question... why not bring more in? Anyway... good luck!

On getting stuff from overseas, 4scopes.com is gone and so is riflescopes.com, but now SWFA.com post to Aus and NZ which makes me wonder if they bought the other two out...

Re: Buying Sightron
cheers guys,

The price on nvt.com.au is about 30% more expensive than swfa.com with exchange rates and shipping factored in.

That's no small concern, I've got a massive problem with the Australia Tax. Everything here is more expensive for no apparent reason :( Not just shooting stuff, everything!

Cheers guys :)

If it's over $1000 including postage, don't forget to count in the import duty. I forget how much it is. NVT has been the most expensive in my searching, QGE was far cheaper, but it will take a phone call, their website isn't great.

Yep the old gst in nz for over $400 nzd I believe, that including freight, scopes are real cheap that's if you don't get stung and there are no warrantee hangups, into nz I have positive experience with a loopy from scott/riflescopestore(does sightron I think), Nikon binos and rangefinder from optics planet( after ordered was out of stock so upgraded to monarch 7 for great discount) and finally a couple of weaver superslams from natchezz( great service)

Oh, and reloaders nz also had them listed in their last catalogue but not sure they have them in yet? (would be my pick for nz) maybe Dan is watching and could pipe up on that one?

Re: Buying Sightron
Andrew. With the exchange rate between nz and Auzzi how much does it cost from the nz supplier? Also if you get it posted to you with a birthday card is it exempt from tax ? Yeah Dan and the lads at Reloader Supplies in Auckland are great to deal with ( just ask that Fred Dag fellow on here) and probably won't charge you for the birthday card......unlike the beloved A.T.O! (Australian tax office)will. Lol

Re: Buying Sightron
Yeah, I'd rather send my dollar to NZ to USA, but the prices in NZ are higher than here in AUS :( Seems like you guys have a similar issue with things being more expensive with no apparent justification?

The world we live in when it's cheaper to pay in US dollars and pay for shipping than buy things in your own country ???

I don't really want to get into ethics of it all but I'm not as cashed up as I'd like to be.
