Heading to the Range

The weather broke and it's beautiful here. A little breezy, but that's ok. I can only hope it holds for tomorrow. I had planned on going out to the range to test some pressure loads. I have my 45-70 and 24 rounds; the repaired 30-'06 and twenty rounds; and my newly bedded and re-crowned .338.
I had also planned to set up the chrony, but that will be determined by how many, if any, other shooters are there. I'm hoping that because it's a work day for most people, I'll be there by myself.
While gathering my gear for the trip, I found some old targets from three years ago. That was the last time I shot anything. I had forgotten how well the magnum performed. It's going to be tough to get that kind of group tomorrow, but a guy can always hope. And you never know, maybe it will surprise me and outperform me.
Should be somewhere around -6*C up to about 10:00am, and around +4*C by 13:00, so good temps and hopefully bright sun.

Re: Heading to the Range
I had to delay the range for a day, weather blew in and it was nasty. Yesterday was perfect. Temps around 0*C, bit of a headwind, more of a thermal I think, it would come and go. I couldn't get the chrony set up. The club made "improvements" and they put a barrier of railway ties in front of the shooting benches about 11' out. They are high enough that I couldn't see my target at 20yards. If I was shooting at 100, they would be fine. Didn't really matter, as I was just doing pressure/fouling loads.

None of the scopes were sighted in, bore sight only, at about 24 yards. The 30-'06 held together for twelve rounds, at least. I wasn't really impressed with performance though. I think I may have screwed up the bedding. The 45-70 was good. The left hand barrel is a heavy fouler, while the right hand shows none. The Ruger is a Ruger. It's going to take some fiddling to get it back to where it was.

All in all, a good day. Met some good people, got to shoot. Can't ask for much more.
