GRS Stock for Tikka T3?

Has anyone tried or considered the GRS stock as an improvement on the Tikka T3 stock? I'm considering it for my 6.5x55 which now has an Maddco 26" varmint barrel.
What are you thoughts on the adjustable cheek-piece and butt-plate? Do they make the stock more or less practical?
Is it worth the $780 AUS or should I save the money for a more suitable ling range rifle?

Nick

Hey Nick I have a grs stock for my sako 85 7mm08, they are very well made.they are not light but I only use mine for offhand silhouette shooting at the range, with the slightly canted pistol grip and adjustable cheekpiece they are very comfortable. they have the alloy recoil lug already in the stock I would probably replace that with the aftermarket steel ones. if you are short like me at 5"7 I would get the decima sporter version as I have my length of pull on shortest setting on the standard adjustable hunter and could go a bit shorter.

cheers Barry

Thanks for the feedback Barry.
Kimmo my T3 currently has the plastic varmint stock and I have added an adjustable cheek piece. It shoots well but I am wondering if an after market stock that doesn't have a bendy forend would be an improvement. From what Nathan says its a tricky job bedding a T3 which is required after stiffening the forend. This job would be beyond my skills.

I tend to find that if a custom stock is fitted, bedding is required. In contract, quite often you can get away without bedding the factory plastic stock. So there are several factors to weigh up.

Thanks Nathan, on that advise I'll keep it as it is. No need to give myself a head ache by changing the rifle when it's performing to my expectations and then find a custom stock has reduced that performance.
