Reloading Velosity

Hi guys I am still learning about this stuff i have started reloading for my Remington 243 and the first powder that i had suggested to me by my mate that has used it with good results was ADI 2213. I were using 46 grains of ADI 2213 with 85 grain Seirra HPBT getting 3030 fps
I have read all Nathans books (about to start the fist one again to pick what i have missed and already forgotten) I saw in his books he uses ADI 2209 for the 243 so hoping for a little more speed and seeing it is a slightly faster powder I thought i would give it a try and wanting a slightly more frangible bullet have gone to Hornady 87 grain V Max,I know changing two things at once
AdI's book load max is 43.5 & 3190 fps so i worked my way up in .5 grain increments getting pressure signs at 44 (starting to flatten primers)
My best groups are at 42.5 grain & 3090 fps
What I am wondering is it worth trying the Hornady 105 grain A Max as guessing i would get approximately 100 fps slower than what the book shows and going by what i got with the 87 grain V Max. Hornady's ballistic calculator shows the 105 grains have less energy below 400 yards becoming basically equal at 400 yards but the 87 grains still with more velocity. Will I gain anything,And is it like the difference of tapping something with a sledge hammer compared to a tack hammer, most of my shooting is within 300 yards but would be nice to be able reach out further if ethical
Thanks for any advice given

Rifle Remington model 700
Barrel length 22 inch (suppressed)
Case Federal
Primers CCI large rifle
mostly shooting goats and fallow deer with the occasional red I am not expecting to shoot reds at more than about two hundred yards or fallow at much more but want to be able to ethically dispatch goats at a reasonable range but not going outside the limitations of the caliber or myself so at this stage I would not be shooting past 400 yards my limitation
Cheers

Re: Reloading Velosity
Thanks.

Please check to make sure that you have no carbon caking. Buy KG 1, a good bronze brush and rod, then spiral the chamber, then scrub ten shits out of the bore. Do the same with the pipe bomb.

When you next go to the range, leave the pipe bomb at home. You can fit this later after initial load work and testing.

The Rem has a 1:9 twist. It will hopefully work adequately with the 105gr A-MAX / ELD but you need to drive the bullets fast. Your rifle may not be too happy about this.

Give it a try and see how you get on. Apart from this, the V-Max will work effectively as you will soon find out.

Note: Edited after misreading your loads sorry.

Re: Reloading Velosity
In brief- the velocity of 3030fps would have had a negative effect on hydrostatic shock, reducing the shock range by 100 yards.

This could have caused you to blame the Sierra bullet for poor performance when velocity was a negative factor versus shot placement. See .243 section of KB for more info on the effects of shot placement versus speed of kills.

At 3090fps, you are still down a ways with the new load. The bullet will be faster expanding and more forgiving, plus you have edged much closer to the 3200fps.

Just wanting you to understand the 'why's' of it all.

Re: Reloading Velosity
Thanks for the reply's so far, when i did my first load development I didnt have the pipe bomb it is a new addition I have only given it one try and i were surprised how hard i had to scrub when i got home. when loading I went up in half grain increments
42.5 grain i got 3090 ES 6 group half inch
43 grain 3117 fps groups 1 inch ES 38 fps
43.5 grain 3215 fps but groups were 2.5 inch ES 20 fps
44 grain 3198 fps groups just on 2 inch ES 59 fps and pressure signs (primers starting to flatten)
these were only shot with 3 shot groups and i guess i weren't concentrating on groups as much as chronographing them as the 43.5 has the best ES so you would think it be better grouping maybe I should go back to the range and try some more of these and should I try some .2 either side ? As this would give me 3200 fps
Thanks for all help given reloading is still new to me and although I understand the principles I am still trying sort it
