How things change

Martin Taylor

Just had some 150g Interlocks turn up after a long wait for stocks here in OZ.
Thought l would post about the obvious changes that have been made to the projectle to show how easliy people can have different results from the "same" bullet!

L/H is my old batch and R/H is the new, both have the same part number on the packet.
The shank or ogive is 40 thou closer to the canulare and the copper case is a lot wider with more exposed lead. I will cut one up when l get a chance to see if there is any jacket thickness changes.

Re: How things change
Thought l had this photo thing sorted, but ggggrrrrrrr.

Never had this problem until now so not sure what l am doing wrong. l've re-read your instruction Nathan which is what l thought l was doing but will try once more.

Re: How things change
Yes, that seems to have done it. When you go to the Photo Bucket side you click on the pic you want to upload. Then on the right you have a table that says "Share Links". You MUST select Direct. It will light up and say copied.

Then you come here to Nathan's site and either hit Paste, or Ctrl V in your reply.

Then wipe the entire jiberish that just popped in your box by holding the 1st mouse button and going over it. It should turn blue. Let go of the mouse button.

While it's colored, now go up to icon row just above Close Tags. You want to click the 2nd from the right.

You'll notice it added the correct image tags so your pics will show up.

It sounds like a royal pain but once you get one pic up you are good to go.

Cheers Thomas,
Don't remember having too do all that before, l just clicked the IMG icon on photo bucket then control V in Nathans site. Seems to work sometimes and not others, but there you go, thanks again for the help!

I have a Howa bedding job to do for a friend that l will post, so will see how l go with the pictures in that one with your instructions.

Guess l'm just a compootor reject hey,.....hhhhhaaaa.

Re: How things change
It's a given Martin, in the computer world, if it works, keep dicking with it until it doesn't. And that may be what happened here. Photo Bucket may have decided to change stuff on their side.

It also seems that Papa Hornadaddy likes to tinker with things too. I would have a hard time believing that those two bullets would act alike given all other parameters being equal.

I suppose it would be a fool's errand to ask them WHY they went and did that.

Re: How things change
Gee that is quite a difference Marty. Yes, just goes to show how we can get caught out batch to batch or year to year.

Re: How things change
Yes... Batches changes are something to keep in mind...

Powder batches seem to have quite an importance... Maybe you will notice some velocity variation, but here things go further...

I have a good load for a 308w with 41 gr of tu3000. Run out of powder, the new batch fills the case to the top of the mouth with less than 39...

And what to say about pistol powder? I have an old batch of ba9 for my 9luger. If I give some to a friend and he load a round using his actual batch data, he will probably have an incident (at least, very overpresure problem)

Not funny... That's why I'm so happy with my recent VV purchase!

Re: How things change
All traps to fall into hey!

Changes in jacket thickness or lead compounds l understand but massive shape/form changes are hard to take.

I'm glad I don't reload anymore. At least now if I blow up a gun I can haul it to a Lawyer if I don't get blown up too :)
