I have recently acquired about 250 ADI 140 grain .308 FMJ bullets and can't find any info on them, I was told they are ozzie milspec rounds, these are new, not pulled however.

Any info would be great.

Re: ADI 140gr projectiles
Hi Chris, yes I have used them. I have used a lot of projectiles and factory ammo that aren't mentioned in the KB. I ommitted all of my PMC research because PMC went through a tough patch for a while and I thought they were going to go out of business which was my mistake. Bit of a shame because I had screeds of research. I don't think I want to start working backwards now, not yet anyway. I need to keep moving forwards with the larger bores, then I can go back through and make updates if I want to.

The ADI bullets are very accurate. The bullets behave much the same as the German MEN ammo which could be used as match / sniper ball, not that it had a very exciting trajectory.

In the past I have hollow pointed these and other .308 FMJ bullets for hunting. These days I simply remove the tips and expose the lead. You have to be a bit careful though because it is an open base design, there is nothing to stop the lead slipping fowards and leaving the jacket in the barrel. Its never happened to me, the bullets have had a good swage at the base- but its always a concern.

I am currently shooting South African ball for culling, tips removed with a disc grinder. The ammo is not very accurate, removing the tips makes little difference in this regard. I can use this ammo out to around 200 yards, 250 max, always weary of jacket slip.

Re: ADI 140gr projectiles
Awesome, thanks for the reply, I had wondered if it was advisable to hollow point them for any hunting work, I'll get a load worked up and see how they go.

Cheers!

Re: ADI 140gr projectiles
After weighing one, it is indeed 144gr as per your write up on the .308.

I cannot for the life of me find and load data using ADI AR2208 - even a starting point would be very helpful.

AR2206 is listed as start of 40.5gr with a max of 45gr.

Re: ADI 140gr projectiles
Chris, you should be fine to just go ahead and use the adi data for 150gr projectiles. You can drop bullet weight for the same charge but never the other way around. cheers,
