Dennis MahonyGood afternoon all,I'm just wondering if there is a major difference between powder charges in Full length sized reloads and neck-sized, for the same accuracy? My plan is to FL size my first batch, find the sweet spot and then naturally neck size afterwards. Is there a general ball-park figure/technique for determining how much reduction there is in powder charges? Or would I just treat my neck-sizing loads as per normal i.e. working up a load from minimum and finding the sweet spot again? Thanks and kind regards, Dennis Australia |

Nathan FosterRe: powder charge differences between FL and neck-sized reloadsHi Dennis, there is a difference in velocity. FL sized loads expend some energy as the case is formed under ignition, therefore velocity tends to be slightly lower. If you want to set about reloading in this manner, work up your loads, establish the best load, then reduce by 1 grain (is ample) and come up again with the NS loads. All the best. |
