anyone else taking a break from killing animals to go and kill poor harmless fish this summer?

Yeah gotta fill the freezer. Throw away the back to front crowbar (fishing rod) and use a hand line 12mm cord with 3 meters of 200lb trace with a big strong Commercial circle hook and winch them in harpoon and land into boat! Iki stick to the brain and the jobs done. Quick humane fishing.? How would you like being dragged behind a tractor with a hook in your guts for an hour and then bludgeoned to death?

Google search "New Zealand kingfish fishing " then select" images " they're good eating and fight for their life's.
Today it's 30 degrees Celsius the middle of summer and the closest thing to a hole in the ice is the "deep freeze". I think you guys call it an" ice box". What are you trying to catch in your icy hole Mark? A box of frozen fish fingers?

Mostly northern pike - a fish with an attitude and good to eat. There are also yellow perch, walleye and trout, though I generally save the trout for open water and long rods. Those kingfish sound fun, especially about now.
I'm in Montana. It gets kinda slow around here after waterfowl season ends in mid January....

Warwick - nothing I'd like better than to see your end of the earth, rod in hand - especially your trout streams. And kingfish, of course. Bankbook says - "How about Wyoming?"

Chris - I would definitely bring the beer to that party. But I've got to say (and no offense to you) that I'd rather stick that thing on a a good 12 wt flyrod on a good boat with a good captain. But if I didn't have that (or if I got my ass kicked - likely) I'd be happy to stick one with the spear! And bring the beer.....when in Rome...
