Looking for a guide for 2022/2023

Greetings all,

I am a relatively new hunter here in Australia, having hunted over here in Victoria for about 3 years. Its been a rapid learning curve, and through my efforts and patience have successfully stalked and taken a number of Sambar and Fallow in the hills and mountains of NE Victoria, including a stag and buck. I have also been putting plenty of effort into marksmanship and load development, to build my shooting skills over a range of distances and environments. With a solid rest and good conditions, I feel I can reliably take good kill shots on medium-sized game to about 350-400m.

One of my big goals is to head over to NZ for a multi-day backpack hunt for either Red stags or Wapiti bulls. I am an experienced bushwalker, having done solo hikes of up to 10 days in the Victorian High Country and SW Tassie.

I am now at the stage of looking for a guide to give me a helping hand towards my goal, either in the roar season of 2022 or 2023. I am looking for an opportunity where the emphasis is on the 'work' involved to earn a trophy, and the skills learned along the way. I love wilderness hiking and camping, so definitely looking for a guide who can take me on a trip into some wild country and teach me the art of New Zealand mountain hunting for red deer and elk.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a guide who I might be able to talk to about a trip like this?

Thanks! :)

Hannah

Nice, watching with interest.
I am in Western NSW and hunt different country, bterrain and animal.
I did one trip to Africa and I am hoping to hunt New Zealand. I would be keen just do it for the experience so pests or helping pack out some meat for the locals would be fine.
I hope you can find something.
Would you like to share more on your rifle, chambering, setup?
I have a few but I would like to take my latest to NZ . It's a .289 ai built as a lightweight rifle..
