Hi learned friends.
Long-time follower and learner/lurker, first-time poster.

Wondering if anyone has first-hand experience with the abovementioned Speer #2472 375cal 270gn BT on Sambar deer specifically?

I've been chatting with Nathan around the rifle project I am invested in and initial findings at the range yesterday whilst running the barrel in (with a different bullet) were quite promising. I have read the article on these pages about the gentleman using these projectiles to great efficiency on deer in NZ and Nathan mentioned them again in conversation as a potential option to investigate. The lack of non-bonded/soft bullets in this bore diameter is a bit of a hurdle.

As an aside. I used 235gn Woodleigh PP SP bullets for initial testing and barrel run-in yesterday and Gordon's Reloading Tool (GRT) predicted velocities within 5 fps of what I recorded on the chronograph. It's the fist time I have used GRT and I spent a lot of time inputting accurate data.

Muzzle velocities with the 270 Speer are predicted to be between 2600 and 2700fps according to GRT but that is theoretical at this stage.

So. ..

anyone on the forum used these Speers at around 2600fps on Sambar specifically and if so, your experiences and observations would be highly valued.

Sambar seem to be very "tough" animals pound-for-pound. I am hoping the medium bore will help me with effective and fast kills if I can do my part. They have a tendency to "soak it up" and run for a while and the dense, thick habitat they live in can be challenging to find them in at times.

Kind regards and many thanks in advance.

Luke
