Hi Gary, only just saw this sorry. The deer would need to be very large, in excess of 200lb to ensure that this particular bullet meets some resistance.

This is a less than ideal situation because the velocity / energy is low and chances are game resistance is not high either. The bullet may mushroom but the wound may be no more than a half inch in diameter with some bruising around it.

Best results will occur if you drive into major bones. So if possible, keep your shots well forwards.

The KB has more relvent info - see 6.5x55. I also put a time stamped video in the forum thread - Game killing (Lane salvato's thread), shows the 6.5x55 140gr SST versus a pig.
