I recently bedded a CG-M96. While prepping the stock, I found that the aluminum pillar that is meant for the Ruger M77 Mkll (from Brownell's) fits the hole for the bottom metal/recoil lug, almost perfectly. One wrap of adhesive tape and it is snug enough not to move on its own, but will push down easily when setting the action. It also has the perfect size hole for the headless bolt/straw guide tube. This should work on other Mausers, might be worth a try.

Correction to the above: should read "one wrap of masking tape..."
