SIGHTRON FLIP UP SCOPE END COVERS

Hey guys. Just a note to all Sightron owners. Check the pivot pins holding the flip up covers on your scopes. One of my pins has fallen out! They're not glued or held in place ! The pins just floating in the hole and the spring tension is all that was holding my front covers flap in place. It's fallen out and luckily for me the spring didn't get lost. I will be gluing or plastic welding them in place to stop it happening again. I still think that they're the best value for your money scope available. I've got 8 Deer in two months with it on my Sako 6.5x55 and I am wrapped with how awesome it is to use.

IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET BEYOND ALL DOUBT! !!!!!

Thanks Warwick.
My S-TAC Sightron has the same issue. Have not yet fixed it but will do so.

You are right about the low cost being OK. I might however obtain a set of Butler Creek flip-up covers because with mine the objective cover in particular tends to fall off the rifle upon several shots being fired. I used electrical tape for the front one to hold it in place, however I prefer not to do so with the eyepiece cover, since I want to be able to use the focus ring.

Yes I found one of mine too loose so never used it.
Got some butler creek ones and the magnum Recoil
Just wrecked them. So I don't use any.

Re: SIGHTRON FLIP UP SCOPE END COVERS
happened to mine its a shame sightron doesn't make a better one as there ones are bit cheap.
i prefer see through one for in the wet so i can keep caps closed when hunting but can still do a snap shot if a deer walks out in front of me, i got some butler creek to try but as the size is in the middle i got to fit them yet.
butler creek does do a rubber one that might hole up to recoil better but not sure if they would flap around to much

Hey Bryan. We'll that's interesting. Mine fit nice and tight and where working great. It wasn't until the pin fell out at home whilst cleaning rifle. A drop of glue or tip of the soldering iron and the problem should be solved. I see Optics planet have Butler creek covers on sale at the moment. Inside the Sightron cover flaps are their size. 57mm and 41mm for my Slll 6-24×50 . I'm obviously lucky to have a low recoiling Swede. I have a lens pen for cleaning glass and I will never go back to tissues or cloth to clean them. I had an old hunter tell me how they used to use a strip of car inner tube as a bikini type cover. He said it was a good backup to use some for lighting a fire for overnights in the bush.

Both covers on mine fell off prior to any pin issues! Found the front cover and used a zip tie to prevent it from happening again. Had to replace the other with a butler creek.

Have yet to find a brand of covers that last very long. It has been my experience that the spring that holds that cap up stops working or pops out and will not stay in place. Have replaced two on the scope and two on my binoculars.

To refresh the carbon tip put the cap on. Push it down and twist the cap it re-coats the foam pad. My Leica RFBs and scopes total value of about $ 6,700.00 all lifetime purchases and worthwhile the $20 price tag of the Lens pen to keep them in top condition. Bloody expensive steaks? I don't drink and I'm a single guy. I have saved for these items and the enjoyment and quality are priceless. Topped off with Nathan"s book series I feel that I can learn and grow my reloading shooting skills and knowledge.
My scope covers are a good tight fit onto the tube. I'm surprised that you guys have loose fitting covers? Very disappointing I bet. Are they covered by the Sightron scopes lifetime warranty ?

Hey all,

old thread but relevant I suppose... I am currently looking for some scope covers for my Sightron SIII 6-24x50

Any suggestions? I haven't had much luck finding anything :(

Cheers all!
