I was just about to place my order on a NF 5.5-22x50 (and not a 56)
1) because x50 allows lower mounting
2) 50 is slightly less weight
3) its the classic
when I dd a final read of the specs:

http://nightforceoptics.com/nxs/5-5-22x50
when clicking Specifications says:
Eye relief 95 mm/3.7 in

however:
http://nightforceoptics.com/nxs/5-5-22x56
when clicking Specifications says:
Eye relief 99 mm/3.9 in
and it has a slightly bigger exit pupil diameter too.

They are both almost the same price, which one would you pick?
The scope will go on a 300 win mag most likely.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hey mate!

I would think this comes down to personal preference if money is not the deciding factor.

If it were me. I would be going the longer eye relief, heavier unit. Just my personal preference. But there are other factors involved that you will need to consider which I would too... the diameter is only 3mm either side so it won't affect mounting heaps plus he option for a cheek rest can be used. That said the eye relief isn't that much more... 95mm vs 99mm but I would still opt for the longer one.

What turrets and reticles are available? Which is going to suit your needs? Will you hunt lower light conditions and need more light through the scope?
Is there another model entirely that will better suit?

Just some questions to hopefully help you make a decision :)

I would look into this one:

This scope will do what you need for a hunting tool...and 3.9 inches of eye relief too. I have used mine out to farther than I would ever shoot an animal with and was pleased with its performance in spite of max 16 power. Worked on 18x18 targets to 1200 meters using my 7mm Rem Mag.

Hey Andrew :) Money difference is less than US $20. Only available config at my store has fast turrets, illumination and MOAR reticle. My needs are a bit unclear to me due to lack of experience, but the price is so good (under $1250+tax probably) that I feel a strong urge to get one. Question is just which :)

There are just very few people saying anything bad about them other than the high regular price (and perhaps weight). Worst case I resell it here.

Bryan, the 3.5-15 is only $95 less. And I should have mentioned that I have an S-TAC 4-20x50 MOA that I can use too. That one says 3.7-4.0 for eye relief.

I will ponder a bit more, thanks for the input!
