this thread gets the old gears between the ears turning alright. might be brazing copper olives ( pre made copper rings ) onto my p14 barrel before i get it changed just need a reliable way of checking temperature.

heard something the other day that aluminum dissipates heat quicker then water or oil. so now im thinking could you get to decent size plate cut out a groove for a barrel.
the after you shoot a string of shots clamp them onto barrel to cool it down quicker ( has to be a tikka owner that would think of that ).

you almost burnt out another barrel in your 700 tactical nathan might be prime barrel weight to play around with??
