Nathan FosterRe: TC Dimension rifleLooks OK but I can't comment as I have not used the system first hand. Hopefully this is a good one, looks like a lot of thought was put into the design, lots of R&D.There have been a few switch barrel rifle designs over the years and sometimes there is a problem relative to how much play/slop there is between the barrel and action. This model has a tight collet with supplied torque wrench so it may be quite a step ahead. A secondary problem is that most switch barrel rifles cannot cope with heavy contour barrels as there is no bedding support at the knox or the system simply places to much stress on the action due too much movement/harmonic vibrations if there is indeed any slop within the action to barrel fit. I think this one might be a little stronger than most though. The .375 RUM I mentioned in your previous thread is actually a switch barrel. It is a basic Remington M700 and was converted to a switch barrel for me by Arthur Cleland many years ago. Arthur did a great job, the rifle has always served me very well. Will be interesting to see how the new TC fairs over time. The drop down forend is very interesting, again, a lot of thought put into it. |
