Jake longNosler recently came out with some new bullets. I'm most excited about the 6.5.Accubond LR 6.5mm 142 Grain BC .719 *(hope this isn't over stated) E-tip 22 Caliber 55 Grain 30/30 Caliber 150 Grain 338 Caliber 225 Grain Ballistic Tip 458 Caliber 300 Grain |

Nathan FosterRe: New Nosler bulletsThanks for the update Jake. Much appreciated. So they pull the .358 Ballistic Tip, but then introduce a .458. Then they put core bonding for higher weight retention on a 6.5 bullet and tell us its a better bullet for long range than their non bonded bullets which already fail to expand when used in true long range applications. Strange. I wonder if they have bong sessions before starting work. |

Thomas PavelkaRe: New Nosler bulletsStrange you should mention that Nathan. Back a ways Sierra had a 308 cal 165 boat tail hollow point. We loaded 30-06 Winchester cases with 54 grains of H414 and lit them up with CCI Mag Rifle primers. It was hands down the wickedest bullet on the planet when used on white tail deer. I have shot deer in the air as they jumped and had them flop down spread eagle and very dead when hit in the lungs. Well it seems the boys squealed like stuck pigs to Sierra that the bullets were wrecking to much meat. So they thickened the jackets and never bothered to let anyone know. It went from devastating and spectacular kills to deer hit dead on with them would get pin holed and run 100 to 200 yards. It now takes a 300 mag class rifle to open them up. Sierra also makes a 140 BTHP for the 270 that I have been tempted to try. But after that whammie they pulled with the 165 I'm thinking I'll pass just in case they beefed that one up to be launched out of the 270 WSM. |

Mike DavisRe: New Nosler bulletsThomas..I used one box of those .270 140 hpbt sierras and wasnt overly impressed...well lets say Ive not bought anymore of the same so the WOW factor wasnt there. biggest thing for me was the horrible uneven tips...they might be fine but they just looked wrong and overall length of projectiles varied too. |

Thomas PavelkaRe: New Nosler bulletsThanks Mike. I will not go there since you already have and did not get wowed. In the US the "new normal" says; If you can't see the kill from outer space then it was not so spectaculer. |
