thomas kitchenA mate of a mate just had a suppressor put on his 25.06 and his hand loads primer blows sounds like he has down loaded but still having problems. Factory ammo is fine. Going to give him a ring tomorrow and find out more details. Is there any info in particular i should find out or any suggestion? |

chris murphyRe: suppressed 25.06 blowing primersI've had primers blow out on my brothers 25-06 but that was my flat I was using Winchester 780 but accidentally but in 760. Got 3350fps with 115grn pills and 22" barrel |

Ben GradyRe: suppressed 25.06 blowing primersI had a similar problem with loads that were too light. The case expanded in the chamber and then pushed the primer out slightly, up to 2mm.I cannot remember the exact details but pretty sure it was a starting load. May have been a head space issue as well. It was when I had a P14 303-25, that actually turned out to be a bastardised P17 and not very well done, by some clown (long story). Hence it has been re-chambered to 25-06 Rem. |

Nathan FosterRe: suppressed 25.06 blowing primersHi Thomas, check for carbon caking in the chamber. Perfform the initial check by seeing a projectile will pass into the mouth of a fired case. If the case mouth pinches the bullet- even slightly, the chamber is hard caked with carbon. There is a lot going on here, the scales may not be calibrated, he may be using some of Nick Harvey's old load data (magazines, not books) which is too hot for most rifles. There may be other factors that I have not considered. Barrel heat- the barrel may be hot and swelling during a shooting session (if so, the bore is probably already poked by now- seen this a fair few times now). Just keep in mind that blown primers means extremely high pressures. The rifle will be running at around 70,000 PSI or more. Once step away from destruction. Ejected primers are different- a head space issue versus low pressures. That said, primers can completely eject above maximum pressures. |

thomas kitchenRe: suppressed 25.06 blowing primersfinally got a chance to ring the guy. its his 28 year old sons rifle but he reloads for it. his son keeps changing projectiles but been using nosler partition and berger vld lately.powder is ar2213sc at the moment, was saying without suppressor minimum loads (51 grains according adi manual) are fine. with suppressor fitted it leaves marks on rear of case and primer is sticking out. the then went to 49 grains still had movement in primer but no marks. bullet is seated 2.6mm of rifling. think he's using lee dies and only neck sizing, he didn't have any fired brass with him to check if projectile pinched. seems bit odd to me and hopefully something simple for you experience guys. thanks in an advance to anyone that offers an idea |

Nathan FosterRe: suppressed 25.06 blowing primersHi Thomas, there could be a few problems. I don't think anymore can be said on the forum as the rifle needs to go to a smith. Too much guess work otherwise. |
