Hi Robert, behind the tang, the stocks become hollow. There is some room to work with but I would avoid doing so.

I felt the same when these stocks first came out, so did others, we all got used to them.

To be honest, I doubt many of us really have ever utilized a perfectly fitting pistol grip. We think we have- but the truth is we simply get used to certain designs. I spend a lot of time watching client hand positions versus grip styles and I have yet to see a perfect fit.

My advice- give it time. Focus on other aspects of the rifle for now please. Put this right out of your mind. There is much other work to occupy your thinking and if you stay focused in this manner, you will find that the pistol grip becomes a non existent issue over time. Get the rifle shooting straight, then assess whether the grip was a hindrance.

That’s good advice Nathan.
Make do with what you have, and get the best of your ability out of it.

Hi Robert, I have 2 of these rifles and found the same issue you are having but more so on my short action 308w. I think it was designed to fit kids & ladies!

After talking it through with Nathan & testing it at the range to prove it, l have moved my grip back and down to straighten the trigger finger out & relax the hand. My little finger ends up under the pistol grip and thumb runs up the stock not over it. Works a treat!!

Use your new book to guide you with the bedding and lapping of lugs if needed and set up then you will be away with a very capable outfit!
