jonathan scottWhat is 6.5mm Creedmore and what's it like?I see some talk on US forums of people starting to load it because it's a short action round with flat trajectory and accuracy. |

Nathan FosterRe: 6.5mm CreedmoreHi Jonathan, there is plenty of info on the net about the 6.5 Creedmoor for sure.In essence, the Creedmoor is perhaps best described as a factory ammo users cartridge as Hornady furnish ready to go loads with A-Max bullets. These loads duplicate what hand loaders are able to achieve with the .260 or 6.5x55. The Creedmoor is a match/competition cartridge first and foremost. For those who hunt lighter medium game at semi long ranges, the Creedmoor with factory ammo or hand loads is a fine choice, the 140 grain A-Max having excellent wounding potential out to ranges of around 650 yards. A hand loader trading in a 6.5x55 or .260 Rem for Creedmore would be more than a little dissapointed if looking for any improvements. All three cartridges are similar, the only differences in velocity being due to bore to bore tolerance variations. I tricked up a 1908 Swede a while back. The client recently sent me a picture of a group shot with the rifle at 100 yards. The old Swede's never cease to amaze me. |
