I appreciate the great write up on this awesome round.

I have taken everything from Blacktail deer on Kodiak island to Yukon Moose in Alaska with my 8mm Remington Magnum.

I am working up a new load with the Hornady 170gr SST and think we have a winner for elk! I will keep you posted.

I had TS Customs in South Dakota custom build my BDL recently and oh what an improvement over factory stock and barrel! You can see pictures of his work here and a few pics of groups with loads worked up for the old barrel.

I LOVE this round and it has been my go to gun for over 20 years!

Nice rig Kirk and a nice simple side port brake.

Yes, keep us posted with photos iof you get a chance to bag any game with the SST. You can email pics direct to me if you want to donate them. Steph will then put them in the wound data base.

Re: 8mm Remington Magnum
Shoot me a good email address and I will get pics of my Bear, Elk, and the damage the 170 SST did to the lungs! Final load work up produced less than 1/4 MOA at 300 yards!

Re: 8mm Remington Magnum
The load was 92.5gr of IMR4831 pushing the 170gr SST at 3335fps.

Took my Elk at 65 yards. He "stumbled" about 30 yards. He was dead on his feet!

The bear was just under 200 yards at about 60 degree down angle on the mountain. He dropped like a sack of potatoes! Never moved an inch!

To date, my 8mm Remington Magnum has been my go-too gun for all my big game. Having spent 12 years stationed in Alaska I was blessed to have taken the following up there.
1. Dall Sheep
2. Moose
3. Multiple Caribou
4. Black Bear
5. Black Tail Deer

4 Elk in Colorado and now this beautiful Cinnamon phase black bear.

I love my 8mm RM!
