sllindsayI have several rifles that foul with copper badly. I had been using Bore Tech and was pretty happy with it after using Sweets for a long time. The only problem was that heavy foulers would still take hours to clean. After reading Nathan's third book I gave KG-12 Big Bore Cleaner a try and what an amazing difference! My coppered barrels now come clean in a quarter of the time. The one disadvantage is that KG-12 does not turn blue in the presence of copper, so I have found it difficult to tell when the job is done. Now I use the Bore Tech just to test where things stand. I have found, however, that the KG-12 leaves a nasty, thick residue on metal parts if not cleaned off while still wet - I discovered this the first time I flipped a rifle over to clean the bottom metal after a few hours of bore scrubbing. Thanks Nathan for another in a long string of handy pointers! sl |
