Nathan FosterHi everyone, while the book is being edited I have had the time to assemble a 35 minute video which blogs bedding, test shooting and hunting with an SMLE No.4 Mk1 rifle.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNc6viCGrxA The camera died during the blog. Sorry about the camera shake and blur evident towards the end, it was on its way out- it has spent so much time in the hills and typically rough local weather. In the interview at the end, I mention the muzzle of the rifle. FYI the Sierra SMK is a boattail bullet, the Hornady SST is a flat based bullet. The SMK may have been prone to suffering the effects of uneven gas escape as it left the muzzle. The two bullets also differ in diameter, .311 versus .312". I also noticed that accuracy of the SMK improved as the bore broke in, allowing us to use it reliably out to 330 yards. I will continue to refine accuracy as time allows. Hope you enjoy the vid. Nathan. |

faulknerRe: Lee enfield bedding and hunting videoThanks Nathan this is a great piece of info you've put out.Being a Canadian the enfield is a well respected rig but has a reputation for "minute of milk jug" accuracy and it so great to have the accuracy potential show cases as you've done.I have one P17 but have not owned an SMLE for at lease 15 years, the history and legacy of this fine rifle and you video have given me the nostalgic fever for a new 70 year old rifle. Thanks again and great job! Aj |

jason brownRe: Lee enfield bedding and hunting videothem old rifles are pretty cool. just not really my cup of tea. I liked the action from the group shooting onward. good to see you out there doing it.but I realise it was basicly info with the story of how to get the 3.0 going well. it was always going to be better than anything on tv. i look forward to more vids, thanks. |
