David - I happened to stumble across a rifle/caliber combination that seems worthy of consideration in your quest for the best all-around rifle. One thing that appeals is that this rifle has a barrel already threaded to accept a suppressor or (heaven forfend) a muzzle brake should you choose to use either in the future. This rifle is also a little heavier (for the caliber) in weight, which will make recoil manageable and help a great deal in making this rifle enjoyable to shoot and practice with. It also comes with a 10 round clip:
