Remington 700 ss bolt question

just wanting to know, is the Remington stainless steel bolt Stainless steel.
why is the end of the bolt black? the rest of it and the rifle's are a sliver color.

Hi Trev, the bolt head is seperate to the bolt body and bolt handle. The three parts are soldered together. The bolt heads of the M700 are always Chrome moly while the body and handle can be either Chrome moly or stainless.

Thanks. I asked the guy at the shop and he said it was stainless steel. Couldn't find the answer on Google. Turns out you know a hole lot more about rifle than the people selling them. Thanks. This question has bugged me for over a year.
