Twist rate for 25-08

Hi all.
I've been working on a mates custom built 25-08 with good results, very accurate with Speer 87gn BTSP ADI 2209 powder, slight pressures signs at 3400fps. I was surprised to get that high a velocity. I've settled on 3360 fps.

It's a hunting rifle mainly shooting Fallow Deer and the occasional Pig.

I feel it should stabilise 100gn pills, Sierra game kings should be a decent hunting projectile. The barrel in this rifle is a Hart 1:12 twist,

Before I go and buy heavier projectiles does anyone one know what the heaviest projectile is that a one in 12" twist will stabilise?

Cheers
Bob

Re: Twist rate for 25-08
Bob, I shoot 257 Roberts.. All mine are 1-10 twist. Out of 4 rifles, only one with stabilize a 120gr bullet. The availability of 257 bullets after 100gr weight goes to 110gr. If you can shoot a 100 gr Partition accurately, that would be my choice. My son uses a 100 gr Partitions and gets his deer regularly.

Thanks Shawn.

Mine is only 1:12". I have some Speer Hotcore to try 100gnBT SP, If they stabilise I'll look for some partitions.[b]
