30-06 AI, Juice worth the squeeze?

Tristan

Hi.
I have a Savage 110, with a 22 inch barrel that I have worked up a load for 200gr ELDXs doing 2700 ft/s.

Now being the never ending tinkerer that I am, I have always had the though of a 30-06 AI in the back of my mind.

My questions are:

Is the 30-06 AI worth the trouble of getting my chamber reamed out in terms of performance and case life, and

Who in NZ could I get it done through?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Tristan, my suggestion would be to shoot it until the accuracy falls away, then seek replacement.

If you want an AI, I suggest you contact True-Flite. For max power, build on a 26" barrel. Dock to 24" later if you find this too cumbersome. Speeds will be the same as the WSM top end loads so make sure the stock is well constructed (mass) for comfortable use.

If you go this way, I am sure you will enjoy it.
