Cutting Barrels

Hi. Just what to know what advantages/disadvantages are there in cutting down a rifle barrel. I have an SPS in 223 with a 26inch 1 in 12 twist barrel and was thinking of cutting it down by 6 inches.

Hi Jason, it is not really a big issue for the .223 considering it uses a small quantity of fast burning powder and was primarily designed for short barrels.

If you want to have the barrel cut to 20", go for it.
