McMillan have an excellent guarantee and they will honour it.

Sounds like maybe someone has used in your stock a calibre much hotter than the fill is rated for, or maybe as you suggested, over torqued screws (bit hard with pillars), or who knows.

The problem for those of us down here is postage costs, but I'd definitely contact McMillan first. I have found them to be responsive and helpful.

Plan B would be the repair described in this thread.
