Load testing for 7mm Rem Mag and 7mmx08

Luis VazquezSo some time ago my brother and I came across a large anount of 7mm caliber bullets for a price that we couldnt pass up from a shop that was closing. So far we've used about 600 of them and still have many left. We also got some great deals on some IMR powders so I want to use these first before I purchase any more.The link below will take you to an album with images of the bullets we have, hopefully we can get some good grouping on the test loads for my 7 Rem Mag and 7x08 and my brother's 7mm SAUM I'll share some pics once I get a chance to get out to the range and see how it goes, the first one will be the 7 Rem Mag. I am using IMR 4350 on all the loads for this rifle, its a Remington 700 with a 26" barrel so it should work alright. I have most of all the loads already loaded, just need to get to the range and see how it goes Best regards Luis |

Kenneth KephartRe: Load testing for 7mm Rem Mag and 7mmx08Luis,Lots of people around me load down on the 7mm Rem Mag with IMR4350. Makes it more comfortable to shoot at the range. My thinking is if i want less recoil i'll shoot my 7mm-08. With 139, 140gr bullets the IMR4350 will work just fine. Should work decently in the 7mm RSAUM. Best of luck, stay safe! Std7mag |

Luis VazquezRe: Load testing for 7mm Rem Mag and 7mmx08Hi Ken:I currently have a good load for the 140gr bullets with 64gr of the 4350 that groups sub moa, but I want to leave those and the lighter ones for the 7x08. I plan on using the 150gr and higher on the 7 mag so we'll see how that goes. I dont mind the recoil at all, I got the 7 mag so I can shoot at longer distances than possible with the 7x08, and I have to say I love it. I've used the 7x08 up to 500 meters shooting silhouette but can't compare a silhouette with a live animal, I want to make the kill as fast and humane as possible. Thanks and best regards Luis |
