Zero Alpha Podcast Pt 2 with Nathan

Jimmy FlynnHi everyone, I'm glad to say Nathan and I planning to do a follow up on the first podcast I did with him late last month. Its penciled in for next week.So I would like to offer the forum members the chance to put your questions to Nathan, just leave a reply to this post and we will do our best cover them in the podcast. Martin TaylorRe: Zero Alpha Podcast Pt 2 with NathanAnother projectile one Jimmy.The main manufacturers seem to be in pissing contest to see who can produce the heaviest, highest BC projectile for a given calibre (along with the lightest rifle mmmm!). Action/calibre combos that where known to have generous mags suitable for optimum LR work are struggling to be suitable without mods. Do you see this ending or a trend that will continue? Are you seeing people chase these pills by changing twist rates in new build? Cheers Marty |

My hope is some of the major brands will see the flaws in their designs & head back towards what works instead of whats cheap, trending or cooool! Precision machinery/tooling that can efficiently turn out tight tolerance components is ready available and already in use by all major brands. Customers shouldn't have to buy a premium or semi custom rifle to get a solid platform to work with. It can be easily changed with mind set or brand direction (ie Tikka with their tight tolerance mass manufacturing processes). One day maybe......... |

Thomas KitchenRe: Zero Alpha Podcast Pt 2 with NathanWas a good podcast cheers Jimmy and Nathan.I always love marketing departments where an engineer/designer makes it as easy as possible to manufacture then marketing puts it twist on it. Full size bolt, 4 rings of steel, single stack magazine for reliability, etc Think we all live in hope for a nice magnum action without to many faults.. Made a very good point about carry weight. Might have to tell my mum she can hunt with a cheytac as there is 5 of us my brother being the lightest at 8.10 and me the heaviest at 10.8. When ever baby weight comes up I just look at my wife and laugh as no one in the family has had one under 7lbs yet. Doesn't go down well but at least I know what I'm in trouble for, for once. |

Andrew MurrayRe: Zero Alpha Podcast Pt 2 with NathanThe carry weight issue was great. I have brought it up before that my rifle is close to 5kg or 11lb. I need a proper weight (measurement) but it surely is hefty. On thr flip side it is great to shoot.Recoil is very manageable. I would say light even when held properly. Roughly the same as a 12g with clay target loads. But I've not yet had the opportunity to carry it a long way in the bush. I was going this weekend but realised I couldn't make it. Very sad but such is life. Great podcast. Big thanks to Jimmy and Nathan. |
