Hate to ask but..."best all round" 308 Win ammo

Ok, I've read the info on the knowledge base Nathan's books but I just need to ask. If you (you being anyone and everyone here :) ) had to pick one factory 308win round as an "all-round" / "general purpose" round for shooting goats out to 300m maybe max 400m, smaller deer species (Rusa, Fallow) out to about the same range (probably less as they're bigger than goats) and pigs out to about 200m, what would you pick. Something fairly readily available in Australia.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Currently I'm finishing up a pile of the OSA 135gr stuff but I'm looking to something a bit heavier (I bought that ammo before I read Nathan's wonderful information). Have only used it on goats out to 150m so far and it makes short work of them but I know that round has significant limitations. Once it becomes available again (August according to the manufacturer - I asked them) I'll be trying out the Outback Ammo in either the 150gr Swift Scirocco II BTS or the 165gr Sierra SBT GameKing (I'd love to hear thoughts on either of these rounds if anyone has experience with them).

These will all be used in a Lithgow LA102 that has a 22" barrel. I appreciate no one round is perfect for every situation but if I can get one that is ok for the majority of situations I'd be happy. I ask this purely because the places I hunt tend to have all of the above game species and I never know what I'm going to find on the day but what I've list has been my general experience.

Thanks!

Re: Hate to ask but..."best all round" 308 Win ammo
I just wanted to add one thing. I do plan to start hand loading but I am being realistic as I am extremely time poor at the moment. Best case scenario, it'll be at least 6 months before I have the time to do it properly. And as hand loading isn't something to attempt halfheartedly I'm not even going to try until I can put the time aside to do it properly. That's why I need to find a good factory round to see me through until that time comes. Cheers :)

My rifle really likes that OSA stuff. Very accurate though I haven't shot it at any game to give any advice on terminal performance. If it's working for you then maybe stick with it for now?

The other thing to consider is that even though better performing projectiles can be found they may not be loaded for optimum results in factory loads.

Just a though bro :)

Hi Andy, no experience with either and not sure of availability in oz but as far as I'm aware both Hornady zmax and Freedom Munitions USA(available in nz)load an 168grain amax pill in a factory round, could be an option??

Failing those the Superformance sst loads maybe worth a crack but I'll stop there as I know how many a old hand will pipe up soon wth great advice for you.
