Stabalised synthetic stocks

Hi mate great site I have just recently discovered and am enjoying gorging myself on all the information you provide.

My question regards stabilized synthetic stocks vs aftermarket stocks, will a stabalized stock provide a good platform for a barreled action to function on with respect to accuracy when compared to aftermarket stocks?

I have recently purchased a .223 rem 700 varmint in sps, and i quite like the look of the stock even though I'm not a huge synthetic fan. Will I get the same results from stabalizing and bedding the sps as I would get from a Boyd's or other cheap after market stock or am I better off getting a new stock and bedding that instead.

Any help would be appreciated, keep up the awesome work with the site!

Re: Stabalised synthetic stocks
Hi Cameron, when I developed the stabilizer, it was because I wanted a good product to stiffen the rifles I was working on for clients- not to invent a stabilizer to sell to the world. My job was/is to make accurate rifles. The selling of the compounds came afterwards as the business grew and as I grew in confidence as to selling a product.

Yes, the Varmint stock is very nice, good ergonomics. Its up to you which way you go but to answer your question, yes you can make the stock rigig and reliable. Just bare in mind that stabilizing proceeds bedding. Don't expect changes by stabilizing alone, you will need to bed your rifle, as you would an aftermarket stock.
