Looking at purchasing a Remington 700 SPS in 375 H&H, wondering if any sudgestions on Scope, power ie 3-9, 2-7, I was wondering about recoil too but I also own a Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70 so I'm not too worried, Looking at a Redfeild or sticking with a Leupold which I have on my other rifles, the Guide Gun has a Leu 1-4x20,

Shane

Hi Shane.

we can look at this in to ways you could get a small light scope to keep it handy or you could get a heavier scope to try and help tame some recoil.

what ranges will you be hunting?

there's a conversation going on under the optics section that might be worth a read.

you might find one of the sightron s tac's might serve your purpose 1-7x24
2-10x32 or jump up to the 3-16x42

Gidday Shane
I have a cz 550 in 375 H&H it came with a Nikon monarch 2.5 to 10x40 and for a cheap scope I have been very impressed with it. I use it from close range bush hunting out to 400 meters without fuss. It takes a bashing and havnt had any issues with losing zero, also no issues with low light shooting

Re: What scope for a 375 H&H Magnum???
Hi Shane, I have busted three Leupolds now on high recoilers. The trouble is with the basic flat spring which is supposed to lock the turret in place. The flat spring is secured only by means of a dimple within the scope and an indent within the spring. The spring can be jolted completely out of its housing and or the turrets can get bumped around under heavy recoil. To this end, I now prefer a scope with some means of locked tracking such as Sightrons Zact track feature. If you look through the big sky SII units or SIII units, taking note of those with the longest eye relief and a sutable power range, you will find what you are looking for.

You'll see other forum members bouncing around between Sightron and NF within the optics section of these forums, discussing pros and cons of various models.
