Hi all!

Just bought a CZ 455 Varmint (17HMR) with a 22LR switchbarrel. I'm planning on bedding the action but would like to hear if you guys have any experience with this particular rifle?

- what works as the recoil lug (cant find it)
- Should I bed the barrel channel (1 inch)?
- should I pillar bed the action first?

Thank you and best regards

jacob

Ps will use MG bedding compund!

Hi Jacob. Buy Nathan's books and watch the videos on line. You will find the answers as you gain and increase your knowledge. Good luck with your project.

Hi Jacob, you'll need to use a mixture of plasticine and taping to fill dovetail cuts and pin holes.

Yes, do bed into the barrel channel.

The recoil interia will be low enough to get by without a recoil lug (though it would be nice if .22's were designed like a normal centerfire).

If yours as the same as the stock below, you will have a hard time fitting pillars. Its very annoying when a stock is made in this manner because the stock will want to splay if over torqued. However, if you use a good amount of compound (you'll not the tang will have a massive fill), the job should be very stable.

If you need to, you can send me prep photos (or post them here) so I can check the job over and offer help.
