Federico CalboliI am starting to get my own opinion on the issue, but, keeping in mind I use a sling, how far from the trigger would you suggest I place the from swivel stud? |

Nathan FosterRe: Front swivel stud positionHi Federico, the front stud position has an effect on stability during shooting, but also effects the height of the rifle when slung over the shoulder. If the stud is set too far back, the barrel will stick up very high when shouldered.Ideally, the stud should be set close to the end of the forend but you need to avoid placing the stud in a thin / weak area. It can also be useful to attach the sling to the side rather than underneath. All the best. |

Federico CalboliRe: Front swivel stud positionHi Nathan, my front swivel stud is close to the end of the forend. I also use a Rifle Craft RS 2 sling. In setting the length of the loop I find that putting my hand against the stud gives 100% consistency, but it basically interferes with everything (so I had to lengthen the loop to have the desired tension when gripping the chequering instead). I am not sure I am 100% sold to it though, because the front stud, the swivel, and the sling are still touching (the sling always, the other depends) any support I use, and 'gripping the chequering' is not necessarily as precise as putting my hand to the front stud. |
