Bob Mavin

G'day all

Just thought I'd tell you about a handy knife I've been using for years.
Scanpan Spectrum Utility Knife They come with a sturdy cover over the blade. Only 4 1/2" blade but good hard steel in them that holds a very good edge. I carry one in my pack and butchered many a Deer with it. I get them from
www.yourhomedepot.com.au. type Scanpan Spectrum Utility Knife into the search area

Only $4.50 each. I have them tucked away all over the place. You won't regret it!!!

Cheers
Bob

Hi Bob,

Interesting. Very light I'd say.
I use a Victory curved boning knife with drop point. Brilliant all round knife shape. See link below;

Great for dressing out deer (with the drop point) & also for breaking them down right through to boning out. They hold an awesome edge & are easy to keep sharp.

I buy them direct in packs of six. Works out at about $16 NZ a knife incl courier from Auckland. Bought 4 boxes of them so far because all my hunting mates & family are converts. Victory make a large range of knives, decent steels & leather sheaths also. To buy direct you need to buy the knives by the box.

Good for filleting pan sized Snapper too...

Cheers,

Jon

hi Jon
i also use victory knives but being in Auckland i pick u the factory 2nd for $10 a knife when i go pass the factory, its very handy got few in the kitchen for the mrs, few for doing down cows for dog food plus my hunting ones.
for anyone that hasn't heard of victory knives they have a carbon steel range known as "green river" knives that most kiwi's would be familiar with.

they also sell taurus knife sheaths and cambrian steels if your in need of any on your next order.

That's great to know Thomas re: seconds. Might have to drop by the factory next time I'm up in the big smoke.

Yeah I've got a few in the kitchen too. The Mrs is scared of them...

Cheers
