I found this fascinating. It is a good 5 mins to read but well worth it.

The premise of this article may be false. If I read it right, he's comparing the egalitarian nature of a group of tribesmen with no organized government, to the stated intentions of socialist governments. I may be wrong, that's just how I read this the first time.

A good article Dan...

I can relate to it to a degree. Hunting trips with others... sometimes you see the egos build up of those more successful on that one trip rather than in a more humble way.

Cheers,

Our ancestors before money ,taxes, kings the industrial rise and Crapitalisms enslavement of the masses . Would have lived like this. Instead of working for money and then using it to buy life support from the petroleum, Supermarket and consumer corporations feeding their "get rich off you" schemes so that you can eat, move, wipe your arse and entertain yourselves in front of the coloured picture screen of your choice. Existing in the human farm complex.(THE MATRIX)
You could "at the risk of having the farmer cut your throat". Jump the fence run into the hills find a valley with a fresh clean!!! Stream and fertile river flats. Set about building your own shack. plant crops farm some animals and not need to be tied to the slave masters money whips and mortgage chains rowing the boat for another man's gain, greed n intrests..... It'll be great until the Calvary ride in. Burn your crops kill your Buffalo, rape your women and kill you for your land!!!!

Here's a song about the journey from freedom to existence for you to enjoy

Re: Kalahari Bushman Hunting Banter

Hi Lane, if I am not mistaken, I believe he was making comparisons while also stating that forced equality such as socialism is merely idealistic. However some info was missing from that article. There was no mention of sexual practices / natural birth control, mortality rates versus game animal numbers versus the distribution (acerage) of both people and game. This information may have given us a more rounded picture. These people sound very much like the pygmy tribes of the Congo, another very quiet and humble people.

In NZ, once the Moa were gone, life was very hard here. This situation created a warrior celebrated for battle skills, for cunning, but also for such practices as theft- basically for his or her ability to survive (similar to the vikings). Mana was tied into both what we would call esteem and ego. The Haka was an outward expression of Mana. It was neither right nor wrong, it was simply survival during a harsh time period. Nowadays, this has been washed over by PC government agencies that came into power during the Clarke (socialist) years. The creation myths taught to our kids are not the same as we were taught. Kids today must think Maui had rainbows coming out of his butt. History is written, then edited.

In a recent netfix documentary (First contact), the documentary makers were very lucky to capture a true first contact with an Amazon tribe. The lifestyles of these people were basically motivated by fear and although it may seem sad, they chose to transition to modern living which occurred over just a few months. One stated reason for the transition, was that they never had a full nights sleep, always on edge, waiting for a Jaguar to strike during the night. But the people were also hunted by other peoples (should mention that Pygmy meat is still thought to be a cure all in Africa). Constantly tired, constantly hungry. Certainly a very good watch.

In an Australian interview, Bindi Irwin (daughter of Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter) stated that our increasing population beyond our individual means was the cause of our troubles over all other factors. The media and general public tore her down for this. But the truth is, we are now seeing are deeper level of anarchy in the form of terror attacks which cannot be blamed on religious belief systems and are instead based on deep seated resentment. The more we teach our children to despise success, the more prone they are to sympathize with such groups if or when they experience lack. There are no easy answers here but I do believe we can learn from the natural world, both plant and animal ecosystems. This includes the corporate trees who form the canopy of a forest versus the smaller plants reaching for the light. Nothing is fair yet all is in balance and ironically appears immensely peaceful. It is in fleeting moments such as this that the hunter sees him or herself as a part of a greater tapestry.

I will post this here. It is a fascinating listen. It is similar in context to the original article. Basically it is a correction of some of the popular understanding of Australian Aboriginal history. The interview actually shows they were quite an advanced people with agriculture and settled communities living in permanent dwellings, multiple camps and the such. They would move between these permanent shelters depending in the seasons.

There is also evidence that they had bread nearly 15,000 years earlier than Egypt. Although i do not think that is covered in this interview.

I hope you enjoy it.

Brilliant classic Warwick...

Nathan, so balanced & well worded man!

Good to get this rather than the media's rubbish/not even half truths', all for the sake of selling a story...

Cheers fellas,
