How to post photos

The TBR forum utilizes a common method of posting photos which you will find on other forums. Rather than store photos on the TBR site, photos are stored on a host server, but can be viewed on these forums. This method simply prevents clogging up the webite with megabytes of photos. Sharing photos on the TBR site is simple once you get the hang of it.

To post a photo, you will need a photo hosting service. Initially I used photobucket but in 2017, photobucket froze all images and shifted to user pays (rather than advertiser pays) and there are now screeds of forums missing images all around the world. I am now using Imgur for ease of usage.

Photo editing

Once you have your free account set up with a photo hosting website, you need to make sure that your images are not so large that they distort our forum pages when you post them. You can either use a photo editor on your computer (e.g MS office) to reduce photo sizes to less than 230kb or use the built in editor on the photo hosting website if they have one. In office, 'web large' or 640x427 pixels is the correct size for this website.

Whenever you alter a photo, remember to use 'save as' option (give the reduced photo a different name) so as not to alter the original photo.

If the photo is too large, it will not do any damage to these web pages, it will simply distort that individual thread.

Inserting photos on this site

If using Imgur as a host, inserting an image on this site is dead easy. Select the photo you uploaded (click and view the photo, not just the thumb), go to the right of the page, it will have some codes. Simply click the copy button to the right of the "Linked BB code". You can then come to this forum, click on the CTRL and V keys at the same time and the image code will be pasted on the site. Once you have finished making your post, the photo will be live. Note, you do not need to click the image icon on our forums when using this method. All of the correct coding will be copied across from photo bucket.

Other hosts

To insert an image using , after you have sized and uploaded your photo to picasa, you will need to use the image buttons on this forum.

Click on the image button at the top of your forum post, this button is a picture of a mountain range. This will bring up the (img) text in your post. You will then need to copy and paste the source code of your photo after this. To do this, right click on your photo to open a scroll down menu (make sure the photo is not a thumbnail view), right click and select "copy image location", then use Ctrl V to paste the image on the forum. Finish by clicking on the image icon once again. This will bring up another set of brackets: (/img) It should look something like this:

(img) https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-GerWzFSnpD4/TgqmJ2AEj9I/AAAAAAAAAIk/MasRmPalWxw/primers.jpg (/img)

The picture will be viewable when the post is live.

All the best, Nathan.
