6mm - Nosler BT

Below are pictures of a European (Czechoslovakia) Red Stag shot with a .243 Tikka T3 using a 95gr Nosler Ballistic Tip.  The stag was shot at a range of 100 meters, it's body weight 100kg.  The first picture shows him lying with the exit wound exposed.

The shot appears to have struck the animal as it was standing almost completely side on. The bullet penetrated the rear of the lungs, breaking ribs both on entrance and exit but did not strike any major bone.

Entrance wound.

Although there is a lot of damage to the lungs, with no major bones struck the stag was able to take 30 steps before falling.
