6.5x 55 Swede Obendorf Mauser Re Barrell ideas what calibre?

Hi all. Looking to rebarrel my Obendorf Swede but looking for ideas on calibre. Not 6.5x55 as I already have a Howa I've worked over that I love. Prob go Truefight for barrel. Will replace stock & optics too. Already has a Timney trigger.

Mag length is limited so was thinking of 7x57 as I also have a custom 8x57. Other options I guess are 7mm08, 308, 243...

Interested in your ideas/thoughts?

I recently had a rebarrel job done and a new stock put on an old Husqvarna rifle. My gunsmith suggested the very stock I had been thinking about, a Bell & Carlson Mauser Medalist stock with the full length aluminum bedding in it. As it was a newer Mauser version of course mine would not fit so they cut out the action area as needed and epoxy and pillar bedded that area and two inches of the barrel knox as well as free-floated the rest of the barrel.

This stock shape does well for recoil shape and is sturdy so am pleased with it. I would ask Grant about what is available to him as I know there have been stock makers in NZ doing good work.
