My weekend achievements

Gidday guys
I just wanted to share my weekend achievements which aren't amazing in the grand scheme of things but was a major leap forwards for me.
I finally managed to get out with my Cz 550 in 6.5x55 topped off with a nightforce SHV 4 to 14 x 56 running 140grain amax with a mv of 2878fps and shot to 1000yards on a 28 inch gong. I know 28inch is pretty big but it's a starting point to give me some confidence going forwards and bearing in mind I'm shooting thru a 14 power. At 700yards I got first round hits on a 8inch gong followed by 5 more hits. All in all I'm very happy and can't thank Nathan enough for all his help and information getting me to this point also a huge thank you to all the great people on here always willing to help out!

Nice shooting, and just to add, it pays to keep up the practice.

Nathan! What have you started? Well done Sebastian Great shooting mate. You gotta love the Old Swede eh! A-max or Partition 140 grainers as Nathan said are the ducks nuts in a modern action with Hand loads it's great. I have a Sako 75 SS 6.5 x 55 and it's been fun to reload and seeing the huge difference between factory ammo and well made roll your own reloads . Keep up the good work Sebastian and enjoy it. Cheers

Re: My weekend achievements
thanks guys its been a long time goal for me to reach out to 1000yards and i still have a long way to go before i can do these shots with confidence and the skill and understanding needed but it was nice to have all my hard work finally pay off.
over the last year and a half I've been trying to systemically work my way out to extended ranges and actually make sure i have a full understanding of what it takes and how everything falls into place to take these shots as i don't want to be one of those clowns out there blazing lead at animals at long range without any idea if you'll hit it or not or having the skills to execute a one shot kill.
up to date my longest shot on animals have been inside of 600yards but I'm not willing to squeeze the trigger unless i know that animal is going down.
i have been absolutely wrapped with 140grain amax and have taken game from 50yards right out to 600 and its performed as well as anybody could hope for.
in close in can be a tad messy but by golly they go down like a sack of potatoes.
i considered double loading but i have found my natural point of aim on snap shots is always behind the shoulder avoiding big bone and the amax has to date got the job done.
i am about to swap over to eld-m as i cant find anymore amax for sale. if these prove to be a bit soft i will go to the eld-x as these seem to be performing well.
